If you are involved in an Uber or Lyft accident, regardless of whether you are a passenger in the vehicle, there are a few important steps you should take. Be sure to document as much as possible after an accident by taking pictures, collecting contact information of anyone involved, and reporting the accident to law enforcement. Police can document the accident and place blame on the negligent party. If you were a passenger in the Uber or Lyft, you should take a screenshot of the driver’s information provided in the app. Do not speak directly to any representatives at Uber or Lyft, the driver, or their insurance company. Additionally, be sure not to post anything about the accident on social media, as this can harm your case. If you decide to take legal action against the negligent party, be sure to do so within four years of the date of the accident.
